Bruce Dickinson, the iconic frontman of Iron Maiden, unveils the official music video for his latest solo single, “Rain On The Graves”.
This track is a preview of his forthcoming solo album, “The Mandrake Project” set to hit the shelves on March 1 via BMG.
Collaborating once again with his longtime partner and producer, Roy “Z” Ramirez, Bruce orchestrated the recording sessions at Doom Room in Los Angeles. Roy Z not only lent his skills on the guitar but also assumed the role of the bassist.
Keyboardist Mistheria and drummer Dave Moreno, who were integral to Bruce’s previous solo endeavor, “Tyranny Of Souls” in 2005, rejoined forces for this project.
During a recent interview with Brazil’s A RΓ‘dio Rock, Bruce delved into the inspiration behind “The Mandrake Project”.
Originally intending to release a solo album titled “If Eternity Should Fail” in 2014 as a follow-up to “Tyranny Of Souls”, he faced a setback when the title track, already written and demo-recorded, found its way onto IRON MAIDEN’s 2015 album “The Book Of Souls”. Undeterred, Bruce pressed on with new songs alongside Roy.
Unfortunately, a diagnosis of throat cancer in 2015 delayed his plans for a year. Following his recovery, he dedicated time to IRON MAIDEN’s tour in 2017. Planning a return to America afterward, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his intentions for three years.
Consequently, more than five years passed, leaving Bruce feeling as though he had lost seven years of his life. Meanwhile, the concept of a graphic novel initially meant to accompany the album evolved, developing into a more expansive and intricate narrative over time.
