July 5th 2025, at Birmingham’s iconic Villa Park, Black Sabbath delivered one hell of a farewell. Dubbed “Back to the Beginning” this was more than a concert – it was the final chapter in metal history, written by the original legends: Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward.
Ozzy, battling Parkinson’s and spinal issues, roared from his gothic throne onstage – bat – wings and all – commanding attention with solo classics like “Crazy Train”, “Mama I’m Coming Home” and “Mr. Crowley”. As he said: “Back to the Beginning … time for me to give back to the place where I was born” – and boy, did he deliver.

Then came the Sabbath finale: a four‑song onslaught of metal immortality. Opening with “War Pigs” then diving into “N.I.B.” followed by “Iron Man” and ending on “Paranoid” with fireworks raining down. Bill Ward’s return – his first since 2005 – made it all the more poignant.
Supporting acts read like a who’s-who of metal royalty: Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Alice in Chains and even two “supergroups” led by Tom Morello and Jason Momoa hosting the epic day-long celebration. The electric atmosphere felt like “metal’s Live Aid” as critics called it.

It wasn’t the perfect singing that hit hard; it was the honest feeling. Sometimes Ozzy’s voice got weak, but the screaming crowd filled in every note that he missed. Confetti, fireworks and tears marked the end of the show, which was a powerful reminder of their fiery heritage.
This wasn’t just a goodbye; it was a celebration of half a century of Sabbath shaping the very DNA of heavy metal. Fans, metalheads and new listeners – comment below: Which moment hit you hardest, and what’s your ultimate Sabbath song to close the book on this legacy?
