Arch Enemy Part Ways With Alissa White-Gluz

Arch Enemy, the Swedish melodic death metal stalwarts, have formally announced the departure of long-time vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, marking the end of a key chapter in the band’s contemporary period. On November 23rd, 2025, the band made the news, praising Alissa for her efforts and hinting at future plans: “We’re appreciative for the time and music we’ve shared, and we wish her all the best. Where there is an end there is also a beginning. See you in 2026”.

Alissa confirmed the news in her own statement, reminiscing on her time fronting the band and thanking fans: “After 12 years with Arch Enemy, we have split ways. I am eternally grateful to the thousands of incredible fans I’ve met along the journey. Thank you, Beastlings”. She also hinted at next initiatives, promising “big surprises” in 2026.

A DECADE OF IMPACT

In 2014, White-Gluz took over for Angela Gossow as the lead singer of Arch Enemy. Her joining signified a transition towards a more contemporary and dramatic sound, which helped the band spread throughout the world while still keeping their melodic death metal origins.

During her tenure, she recorded several major releases with the band, including:

  • War Eternal (2014)
  • Will to Power (2017)
  • Deceivers (2022)
  • Blood Dynasty (2025) – her final album with the band

Her stage presence, vocal range and ability to connect with fans were all important parts of the Arch Enemy era during the previous ten years, making her one of the most well-known voices in modern metal.

NEW SOLO ERA BEGINS

Just hours after the announcement Alissa launched her solo career with the release of her debut single “The Room Where She Died”. The track introduces a fresh musical direction and was co-written with Oliver Palotai known for his work with Kamelot and Doro.

Alissa has described her upcoming solo album as diverse, experimental and personal, suggesting that she is stepping into creative territory beyond what she explored with Arch Enemy.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE BAND?

As of now, Arch Enemy has not announced a new vocalist. Fans are already speculating who might step in or whether the band will evolve stylistically in their next chapter. The band statement hinted at activity in 2026, suggesting new music or touring plans may already be in motion.

The next frontman will determine the future direction and sound of Arch Enemy following the departure of such a well-known personality. It’s unclear if the band is looking for a well-known metal artist or a budding underground star.

END OF ONE CHAPTER, START OF ANOTHER

For Arch Enemy, Alissa departure signifies the end of a pivotal period. Growth on a global scale, critically acclaimed albums and unforgettable live performances were all part of her tenure with the band. At the same time, her shift toward a solo career opens a new creative path that fans are eager to follow.

As both sides begin their next chapters, metal fans worldwide are watching closely tuned in for the next announcement, the next vocalist reveal and the next evolution in the sound of Arch Enemy.
