Hard Rock, Classical Flourishes, and Holiday Magic: Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Yuletide Extravaganza Hits Spectrum Center
By DarkLuna
Holidays bring good joy, glittering lights, and the anticipation of Santa Claus’ arrival. For those in the know, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s annual visit has become as much a part of the holiday season as gingerbread cookies and mistletoe. This year, the hard-rocking Christmas spectacular comes to Charlotte. On Saturday, December 9, 2023. Two concerts will take place at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Spectrum Centre. If you’ve never experienced the marriage of hard rock with festive joy, this is your chance.
Where Hard Rock Meets Holiday Magic
Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which was created in 1996 by creative producer, composer, and lyricist Paul O’Neill, isn’t your typical Christmas show. O’Neill, who has managed and produced rock legends such as Aerosmith, AC/DC, Joan Jett, and the Scorpions, brought his rock expertise to the holiday season.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s creative team includes heavy metal band Savatage’s Jon Oliva and Al Pitrelli, as well as keyboardist and co-producer Robert Kinkel. This ensemble has produced a distinct sound that is equal parts hard rock and classical delicacy by combining the talents of rock virtuosos with classical players.
From Ad Jingles to Arena Anthems: The Trans-Siberian Orchestra Journey
Before rocking around the Christmas tree, Robert Kinkel, one of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s major architects, had a fantastic career. Kinkel was the brain behind the infamous “Hefty, Hefty, Hefty – Wimpy, Wimpy, Wimpy” ad for Hefty rubbish bags in the 1980s. He had no clue he’d be writing epics that would resound in massive stadiums and serve as the music to many Christmas gatherings.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Holiday Symphony: A Concert Like No Other
